When is my dog considered an adult?

I have a 9 month old boxer (female) she weights about close to 50 pounds or more. I am wondering when i can stop giving her puppy food and start giving her adult dog food. I also want to know when she is considered an adult dog. Thanks =)

It depends on the dog. You should be more than safe to give her dog food now.

They will usually stop growing at around 1yr-18 months but it can take up to 2 years depending on the genetics from the parents.

If the dogs paws still look a little bit too big for her legs she still has some growing to do.

She is considered an adult at around 2years old, at this stage most dogs have passed the 'puppy adolescence' but some dogs never grow out of it.

I have a 10yr old BC who has been in adolescence since he opened his eyes.

Larger breeds take longer to mature than smaller ones. You can ask your vet for the answer to this question; that's the safest place to get the best answer.

I have a black lab and had the same question( I wanted to know when to change him to adult food) so I asked a specialist

at PET SMART she told me when my dog turned 1yr old.

i've always thought when the dogs a year old their considered an adult, but maybe check with your vet when you can start her on adult dog food.

when she is 1 she can start eating adult dog food (a dog is considered an adult at age 1)

even though she is still considered a puppy she can have adult food now unless you wnt her to keep growing

At 2 years old.

i think when shes 3 years.
