My dog stopped eating food, what should I do?

It's just since last night and all today...she drinks a lot of water, she's about 1 year old and gets walks on a normal basis, 2 to 3 times a day...she's been going regularly without much effort...don't know what to make of it.

I noticed that she didn't want to eat it dry at first so we watered it down and she ate it quick but now it just sits there, dry or not.

if your dog is not sick then just wait it out. a dog will not starve itself . dont give in. she will eat. trust. me. my dog does it from time to time. i guess they get tired of the same old kibble.

When an animal goes off food or water or both, there is something going on. Is she a chewer? Is it possible that she swallowed a rock, sock, bedding? Also, is there any vomiting going on? Does she get into food she shouldn't (human food)? Pancreatitis can sometimes present in the early stages like this, so can a blockage in her intestinal tract. She needs to get to the Vet as soon as possible. Animals dehydrate very quickly and their blood sugar drops even faster. She has some reserve, but that does not last long. The other thing that come to mind are intestinal parasites. One last thing. Is her stomach bloated ? Does she seem to be breathing a little heavier than normal? There is something called bloat. It usually happens to large barrel chested dogs, but i've seen it in a poodle. If she hate her last meal to quickly, her stomach could have actually twisted not allowing the contents to pass through. This is a true emergency. Dogs die from bloat. So please try and get her to
the vet. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that it is something like parasites or gastritis. Best of luck to you.

Its perfectly normal for some dogs to stop eating for a couple days, rather it be from stress, an upset stomach, etc. My dogs will go three days or so without eating their dinner. Its just something that dogs will do every once in a while!

I suggest you start mixing her dry food with some nutritional wet food for her size and age. It will probably get her to eat. Be sure not to give her any treats, you don't want her to become picky!

If she isn't eating within about three days, I would definitely call your vet. She could have a tooth ache or a chipped tooth since she will only eat her food if its watered down, or some kind of blockage if this persists.

Best of luck!

Take her to the vet, she may have an obstruction, or gotten into something.

Try a different food?

You should ring the vet straight away...

Just tell them exactly that...

if she's not eating you need to call your vet.
