Where do I go to get my dog imbedded with a finding chip?

Most vets use AVID. You can buy the AKC home again chips and implanter online.

It depends on what you are asking. When you say a finding chip, are you referring to a microchip once a missing pet has been found or something similar to a GPS that you can track in real-time?

If the microchip for locating the animal once found, then go to a vet and they will implant the chip. It runs about $100.00, they implant and you are then registered into a database. If you animal becomes missing and then found and brought into a vet, the vet scans, finds the chip and locates the owners in the database.

If you are referring to a GPS-style chip, a few retailers sell it but it's a collar, not a chip. For this, you could do a search for 'Pet GPS'.

Your vet can inject the chip in your dog. You will probably end up getting an AVID chip -- here is some more information about this:

Hope you find the information useful.

It's called a micro-chip. Your vet can do this.

It does not "find" them...only helps identify, protect and return them to you when they are found and scanned.

Almost all pounds and animal control officers carry scanners (as well as vets) so when your dog is picked up or turned into a pound or SPCA, they aren't put up for adoption or destroyed...instead, you are notified! This works Nation-wide.

You have to visit a veterinary hospital and find out if they do the ID / chip thing. If not call on a private veterinary doc who is licensed to do so.Ok.

Most vets do and the Humane Society also does it for a very reasonable cost, but only on certain days. Check their website to see what days they are doing it in your area.

You can purchase one from a vet our you can actually buy your own from AVID microchips systems. You can purchase a single and it comes with the needle and all to do it yourself.

You can take your dog to your regular vet or a vetinarian clinic

You veterinarian should be able to do this. Or they can recommend a location. Our local shelter does the microchipping for $30.

Animal Vet. or an animal clinic. Call Petsmart they should know.
