Is my dog's vulva suppose to swell at pregnancy?

its been 6 day since my i took my dog to breed at the fifth day her vulva started to swell and today i notice she was bleeding is that normal

Your breeding mentor didn't tell you this basic fact?

ETA: Good excuse!!

If your dad REALLY bred Labs -- you would either already know these simple **basic** facts, or he would have STAYED home.

Note: "***i*** took ***my*** dog to breed"

Four to five weeks into pregnancy, a clear mucus vaginal discharge may be noticed. One week before the labor, in the female dog as well as in the female cat, the body temperature (measured in the rectum) decreases 1º up to establish between 98ºF and 100ºF, she starts to have milk, its vulva usually gets edematous and with a slight vaginal leak; she can have a change of behavior such as a search of a dark and remote place, an increase worry and the construction of the nest.

Ok when did your dog go into heat? you may have taken her too soon, because the bleeding usually lightens and then the vulva looks soft and puffy. Dogs are usually ready to breed about 2 weeks after they start showing signs of heat. 10 to 14 days. When she is ready she will hold her tail to the side and sometimes lift her vulva. Thats when she is ready to mate.

I'm not going to attack you for breeding, just make sure you have homes in advance of any puppys you may get.

Since you don't know the answer to this question you should NOT be breeding. You don't have a friggin clue.

With all the dogs being killed in shelters because there are no homes for them you are bringing in yet another litter of dogs. UGH!!

Do your poor dog a favor and get her spayed after she has weaned her pups.

Stop being the BYB that you are.

The vulva will swell during a heat cycle, and may stay larger than before. They don't usually bleed after the first week or so of the heat so that's odd.
