I used to play tug with my dog but now she is un-interested. How can I get her to play again?

My dog is now six years old. she used to love to play tug of war but now she just wants to be pet and disregards the toy. How can I get her to play again?

get a new tug toy maybe she will be interested in a different one.

It's a sad fact that puppies don't stay puppies for all of their lives, unless you are very lucky (depending on how you look on it). I have a feeling, provided she's well in all other respects, eating, and toileting okay?, she's just growing past the tug stage. Each phase of their lives has it's own charms however, and to be honest, I tend to prefer them once they have made the transition from puppyhood to a rather more sedate lifestyle.

It might be worth having a health check (perhaps this is as simple as her teeth needing attention?), and maybe buying her some new toys.

some pets want the latest gadgets and plastic toys, some plays only with the traditional standbys,if u plan to fetch (outdoors, that is)make sure any ball u give your poooch will be bounce.if your pet spends a lot of time unattended, look for balls and dog toys with rubby segments nubs, depressions and indentations.give your pet a rope with a knot in the end this is a great chew toy.for more u should visit this link http://www.yourpetsdo.blogspot.com/

Maybe she got tired of tug of war. You could take her with you to a pet specialty store (such as Petsmart) and see if she is interested in any toys they have available. A new toy that is appealing can entice a dog to play after they've become uninterested.

Have you checked her teeth or gums they may hurt. if not maybe she is just bored with it so you could try a different type of toy.

Find a new game; perhaps she just got bored with that one.
